not easy to install but works great after installation. instructions could be more clear. overall this print server is a "buy"
Excellent print server. Installation was a bit of a pain because the default address conflicted with something else on my network and I had to connect to it off the network using a spare hub to reset the address. I suggest "pinging" the default address before you try to install the unit to make sure it's free.
This is the second time around for me and this device. subnet, but once I work around this issue and give it a proper fixed IP address it works fine. The first device unexpectedly stopped working after a year or so of faithful work, no idea why.Setup is somewhat problematic as the default IP address is 192.168.0.1. I do not use the.0. I only use the web interface as the disk setup is geared toward Windows.It is not really MAC friendly, must use a generic postscript print driver which is ok for me. This is really built for Windows.Printing can be somewhat slow, but it does do the job.
Used this to connect to a HP LaserJet 1100. Took about 10 minutes to set up. No problems in over 30 days of use. Great product.
The TRENDnet parallel Print server solved a problem for me. However, he could not connect it to his computer since he had no parallel port. The new Vista machine that we had gotten for my son had no parallel port connector. When he moved out, our network printer did not go with him, so I gave him an older personal laser printer. The TRENDnet print server was easy to set up and now, after connecting it to his wireless router, he can print his school work from his main computer or from his laptop anywhere in his apartment. This unit is easy to set up has operated as a "set it, forget it" part of my son's network.
